The Green Chemistry Teaching and Learning Community (GCTLC)
A Place for Everyone in the Green Chemistry Community to Share, Connect, Learn, and Grow
About the GCTLC
A new initiative “by the community, for the community” jointly supported and developed by Beyond Benign and the ACS Green Chemistry Institute.
After extensive consultations with the community (including educators from across the U.S. and around the world), Beyond Benign and the ACS Green Chemistry Institute are pleased to announce a new online community space for green chemistry resource sharing, learning, collaboration, networking, and mentorship: The Green Chemistry Teaching and Learning Community (GCTLC). The GCTLC provides a much-needed central online hub through which community members (including K-12 and Higher Education teachers and educators, students, and industry stakeholders) can interact, connect, and learn from one another.
Building a Community of Transformation
The GCTLC acts as an online clearinghouse for green chemistry education resources and helps further support and solidify the existing community of practice within the chemistry education sector that has been growing and evolving over the past 30 years. By supporting educators in developing the skills to more effectively train the next generation of scientists and global citizens to think more sustainably and ultimately carry this knowledge on into their careers, Beyond Benign is helping to foster a Community of Transformation that can help solve the world’s most pressing global sustainability challenges.
Check out this presentation by Beyond Benign’s Co-Founder and Executive Director Dr. Amy Cannon on the importance of Communities of Transformation and the GCTLC in supporting change in the education sector.
